Find Your Comfort on the Water

Our family is dedicated to ensuring your experience on the water is as enjoyable as possible. Beyond that, however, your safety is of our utmost concern.

Listed below are some 'rules of the road' and operational safety tips to aide in your water experience.

Rules of the Road

  • Maintain a safe distance from other watercraft, swimmers, and docks. Minimum of 100 feet is recommended

  • Obey all 'No Wake Zones.' Reduce speed to no more than 5 mph while maneuvering in these zones

  • Avoid shallow water, shorelines, bridges, and debris to mitigate the chance of coming into contact and capsizing the vessel

  • Maintain a distance of at least 500 yards from government/military restricted areas.

  • Avoid areas that are posted as environmental protection zones

  • Do not operate a vessel under the influence of drugs or alcohol

  • Ensure the life vest for which you are provided is worn at all times

  • Avoid reckless driving to include:

    • No sharp turns in high traffic areas

    • No wake jumping near other vessels

    • No stunt riding

    • No towing of other vessels

    • Refrain from crossing the bow of other vessels

Operational Guidelines

  • The key that starts a rental vessel is attached to a lanyard. This lanyard must be worn at all times, around your wrist, while operating the vessel.

    • The lanyard will serve as a mechanism to pull the key from the ignition and 'kill' the engine, in the event that an operator falls overboard

  • Awareness of the amount of fuel is important, so as to mitigate the chances of a vessel being stranded.

  • Fire extinguishers:

    • Jet Skis

      • Located directly under the seat

    • Pontoon Boat

      • Located under the captain's seat

  • All units are equipped with a whistle and flares, in the event of an emergency.

  • Jet skis are not equipped with brakes. Backing down on the throttle will gradually slow the vessel

  • For everyone’s safety and enjoyment, all renters should operate equipment responsibly. Should damage occur to any piece of equipment, during your rental, a fee to cover necessary repairs or complete replacement can and may be assessed.

Requirements and Guidelines

Requirements and Guidelines

Below is a list of general requirements for renting and using equipment.

Age Requirements:

  • To rent a jet ski or pontoon boat, one must be at least twenty-one years of age, at the time of the rental.

  • The minimum age to drive a jet ski solo is sixteen but in order to do so a legal guardian, who is at least twenty-one years of age, must be present to rent the watercraft and sign liability forms.

  • Children, ages fourteen and fifteen, are permitted to drive the watercraft but only with someone who is twenty-one or older onboard.

  • Those children under the age of fourteen are permitted to ride as passengers but not allowed to drive.

  • The minimum age for children to ride as a passenger is five.

Physical Requirements:

  • Before choosing to be our guest and take to the water, one should consider his or her physical capabilities, fitness level, and medical history.

  • Those with previous, neck, back, leg injuries, cardiac conditions, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, or have respiratory issues or who are pregnant should consider taking particular caution when selecting this type of water activity and consult a physician before participating.

  • Ships n' Giggles Adventures, LLC is not liable for any injuries you may take on while on the jet skis.

  • Both passengers and/or operators must be able to swim.

  • Both passengers and/or riders must be physically strong enough and capable to climb back onto a jet-propulsed unit without assistance, in the event they fall into the water.

    • Such an effort is comparable to climbing out of a pool without the use of a ladder.

    • Should you have any doubt in your ability to do this, please consider not operating a jet-propulsed unit.

  • Maximum amount of weight permissible on any given jet ski is 400 pounds, to mitigate the risk of the vessel capsizing.

Verification/Identification Requirements:

  • Renter/operators and/or drivers of rented units must present a valid ID at the time they physically check-in with a member of our staff, pre-launch

  • That form of ID will be maintained by one of our staff members, until the rental excursion is completed and the unit returned.

  • There is no identification requirement for passengers.

Reservation Guidelines:

  • Reservations, through the website, are highly recommended and the easiest means to secure a time slot for operating the equipment.

  • At a minimum, for same day reservations, we ask for a four-hour advance booking notice.

  • We do welcome walk-ins, but, unfortunately, cannot always be accommodating.
